Don Eugene Rawlins

Don E. Rawlins, age 90, of Pleasant Prairie, WI and formerly of Twin Lakes, WI, passed away Saturday afternoon, August 17, 2019 at the Addison of Pleasant Prairie, WI.

Don Eugene Rawlins was born on March 1, 1929 in Thurman, Iowa, the son of the late Marion E. and Maude E. Hackler Rawlins.  On May 11, 1951, at the Community Church of Richmond, IL, Don was united in marriage to Nancy P. Rasmussen.  Nancy preceded Don in death on July 24, 2018.

Don served as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1951 until 1953 serving in Korea.  Don attended Iowa State University where he earned a Bachelors Degree in Forestry.  Don and Nancy owned and operated Oriole Springs Orchard from 1960 until 1990.  He was also Executive Director for the Farm Bureau Research Foundation.

Don was a member of the Wilmot Masonic Lodge #241 F. & A.M., the Tripoli Shriners in Milwaukee,  Past President of the Wisconsin Apple and Horticultural Assoc., Past Commander of the Paul C. Hoffman American Legion Post #253 in Richmond, IL, Past Richmond Rotary Club President, a member of the Western State Governors Conference, was Bargaining Agent of the Wine Growers Assoc. in Michigan, New York and Washington.  He was also Vice Chairman of the 1st Congressional District of the Republican Party, State Executive Committee of the GOP and Kenosha County GOP Chairman.  He was also a member of the Community Church of Richmond.

Don is survived by:  5 children, Bruce (Debbie) Rawlins of Normal, IL, Cathy (Dick) Warren of Twin Lakes, WI, David (Sue) Rawlins of Twin Lakes, WI, Scott (Barb) Rawlins of Twin Lakes, WI and Suzanne (Jim) Hughes of Twin Lakes, WI; 16 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother Jim Rawlins.

The Rawlins Family will receive friends from 10:00AM on Saturday, August 24, 2019 until the time of Funeral Services at 11:00AM at the Community Church of Richmond, 5714 Broadway St., Richmond, IL.  Interment will be in Wilmot Cemetery. Memorial Remembrances may be made to the Community Church of Richmond, 5714 Broadway St. Richmond, IL 60071.  The Haase-Lockwood & Assoc. Funeral Homes of Twin Lakes is serving the Rawlins Family.
