James "Jim" Edwin Kennedy

James “Jim” Edwin Kennedy age 91 of Elkhorn, WI died peacefully on Saturday September 16, 2023 at Holton Manor of Elkhorn, surrounded by his loving and caring family. Jim was born on October 30, 1931, son of the late Edwin and Martha (Zumbro) Kennedy in Parkersburg, WV. As he grew up, he grew into faith, and took that into teaching the Lord’s works while going into church ministry as a pastor. Jim served as an Airman Apprentice in the US. Navy, then graduated from West Virginia Wesleyan with his Bachelor of Arts degree, and earned his Master of Divinity Degree from the University of Dubuque. Jim served in churches here and West Virginia over the years including Quiet Dell, WV, Oregon, WI, the UCC churches in Lake Geneva and Genoa City, and finally as the interim pastor for churches in both Delavan and Walworth, WI before retiring in 2013. Jim was united in marriage with Joyce E. Klemp in Lake Geneva, WI on January 16, 1972. Jim served as a volunteer with the fire departments of Lake Geneva and Genoa City and was a member of the Lions Club. Jim leaves behind his wife Joyce; children; James “Mark” (Karen) Kennedy, Lisa Kennedy, Bridget Krupp; grandchildren; Megan Kennedy, Erin (Adam) Madara, Stefanie Kimla, Haley (Ryan) Borkowski, Jena Krupp, Tyler Krupp, and great grandchild Braylynn Krupp. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings Jane (Joe) Mattaliano and Shirley (Rudy) Guerrieri. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday September 25, 2023 at Sugar Creek Lutheran Church at 11:00AM. Visitation will take place before the service, beginning at 10:00AM.
