Michael D. Morrissey, 85 of Elkhorn, WI, died Monday, November 22, 2021, at his home. He was born on November 12, 1936, in Fairfield, IA, the son of the late Charles J. and Lois E. (Klingbeil) Morrissey. Michael served in the United States Navy. He was united in marriage to Jean M. Walsh on July 23, 1960, in Wisconsin Dells, WI. Michael worked as an accountant for Borg Fabrics in Delavan and later at USG in Walworth until his retirement in 1997. He loved to research genealogy and spent many hours working on his family tree. Michael enjoyed coin collecting and puzzles. He and Jean logged many miles in their trips to Europe and around the country. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church of Elkhorn. Michael was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His family will miss his corny dad jokes and the little jig he did when he came into a room.
Michael is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Jean, four children; Jean (Joe) Pruscha of Lake Geneva, WI, Kerrie Bahr of Forest Lake, MN, Tina (Tim) Garton of Crystal Lake, IL, and Michael (Chad) Morrissey of Elkhorn, WI, ten grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, his siblings; Rita Spence, Sr. Frances Morrissey, Sr. Mary Morrissey, Steve (Mary Kay) Morrissey, Sr. Shirley Morrissey, Veronica (Dick) Huen, Beverly Morrissey, Kay Morrissey and JoAnn Morrissey. He was preceded in death by his parents, six siblings; Fr. Charles Morrissey, Monica (Brodie) Coble, Malachy Morrissey, Joseph Morrissey, Thomas Morrissey and Sr. Genevieve Morrissey.
Memorial Mass will be 4:00PM on Friday, March 18, 2022, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 107 W. Walworth St. Elkhorn, WI, with Father Oriol officiating. Visitation will be 3:00PM until time of service Friday at the church. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Elkhorn.
