Ricky J. Gibbs

Ricky Jay Gibbs, age 62, of Pell Lake, WI, died on Thursday, July 15, 2021, at Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital. Son of the late Harold R. and Beatrice (Hollat) Gibbs, Ricky was born on January 6, 1959, in Berlin, WI. Ricky moved to the Lake Geneva area in 1987, and on May 14, 1988, was united in marriage to Barbara Sparkman. During his life, Ricky worked for the Illinois Tollway before retiring in 2011. He attended Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lake Geneva. Ricky was a die-hard Wisconsin sports fan and never missed a game of the Packers, Brewers, or Bucks. A true Wisconsinite, Ricky loved the snow, and whereas most people would hurry to get inside, he would spend hours shoveling and snow-blowing, seemingly for the enjoyment of it. Ricky also enjoyed fishing, indulging in good food—especially Mexican, and going on long walks around the neighborhood with his faithful canine companion, Dexter the chihuahua. Ricky traveled all over the United States on road trips with his family, and that precious time spent with his loved ones was the most important thing in his life. Outgoing and dynamic, there wasn’t a person Ricky met who didn’t love him.

Ricky is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Barbara Gibbs; his children, Misty (Mike) Aull and Richard (Sherry) Gibbs; grandchildren Madison, Bella, and Jase Micus; and his brother, Ron (Terry) Gibbs. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Beatrice Gibbs.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home and Crematory of Genoa City, WI is assisting Ricky’s family.
